This is not only going to be a negative post, but a bitching post too So we all know the economy is bad, so allow me to share a bit of a personal story. In fact, a current personal story. Now before we go much farther, yes, these are my problems, yes they are mostly [...] So to speak. I guess it really finally sets in on this whole wedding thing when you have your Bachelor party. It is, in many ways, the last Hurrah. Yes there will be bar nights out with the guys, yes there will still be parties, but somehow now they are different. It’s not about talking to people [...] Ok, I have been thinking about this for a while. Not sure quite how I wanted to frame this but bear with me. However, I do have to say, these are my opinions, and if I am wrong, I am wrong, but I think I got a good path, but I am open to discussion of this. Here is one thing i wanna see as far as legislation goes…. 1: I want to see something similar to the great depression electricity and then later in our history national telephone wiring come to cable internet. Now hear me out. It is hard to look at this right now and say “seriously? with al that is going [...] I know this is a few days late, but life has been crazy. First off, before this gets going. I want this to be known, i had a good Halloween with friends, and the kids that came through had cute and funny, and a few original costumes, and it was a good night. OK, I’m bringing out the Bitch Stick again. I’m allowed to. In fact, i won’t even subject you to reading it. But if you want to, click below… So on my lunch break, i had something tat made me very mad in a few ways, and i had to share. I pulled into the speedway here by work, and a woman was in her car at the pump (car was older, had 2 blown out windows covered in plastic, rear seat and rear window), while [...] As some close friends know, back in the heyday of baseball and into the late 60′s i had 2 family members who played in the Major League. Mike Tresh and his son Tom Tresh. Tom is technically my 2nd cousin, the way that whole family thing works out, and i had met him only a handful [...] I swear that some higher power somewhere makes it their personal pleasure in life to Mock me for their own sick laughter show. I go and write this nice post about slowing down life and enjoying it more, and on the way home that very same day, i have to lay down my motorcycle. Now before you ask, the bike is fine, not a scratch on it, cuz i know what I’m doing, and the only thing is i burned out a light bulb on the front turn signal and ripped off a chunk of rubber coating on the shifter. As far as me, physically i am fine, i ripped a hole in my pants at the knee and skinned it up pretty bad, but nothing that won;t heal in a week or 2. So therefore, I’m ok. Mentally I’m ok to, just pissed off. Please allow me to paint this picture for you. There is a little party store by my house with 2 driveways, one close to the main road (where i was coming from) and one farther away. The one closest to the main road is labeled Enter, and the other Exit. The signs are gone and the paint is worn off, but you can still tell what’s what. Ok, not so sure about the Chilly Hides part, but the rides is the main point. Ahh, the beginning of Fall weather, little cooler in the morning, just enough for maybe some frost, and a little cooler evenings in the 50′s or so. Makes for some perfect riding weather. Someone posed an interesting question this morning. Do we even care? Yes and no, is my answer Yes we care, because it’s a memory of the people who died that should be remembered. However, no we don;t care, because [...] I guess it’s time to dust off the ‘ole Soapbox for a moment. I’m just gunna gripe on a few things today. Even things that *gasp* I’m guilty of, but hey, unlike most people, i can admit it. This is gunna be a long one and full of good old American opinions, agree and disagree if you want, it’ll be nice to talk about, just be nice with your words, if I’m wrong, I’ll back down and admit it. Hopefully that’s not the case though Well, today was one of those days that i love my job. LIke a mechanic with a classic car he gets running, or a photographer with that perfect set of pictures, I was at home. we have 4 old HP Net servers (2 500MHZ P3′s with 6x9GB Harddrives, and 3 P2 450MHz machines with 6x9GB Harddrives and about a gig of RAM in each machine) and currently one of the P3 machines is my sharepoint test server. So i asked about the others, they were going to eventually be auctioned off (cuz that’s what we have to do) and i asked if i could take them apart first. I was given the go ahead. So 2 screwdrivers in hand i set off like a kid in a candy store. Granted I only got one machine apart, but now i have a Dual Processor (almost a triple processor but it would not recognize the 3rd one) 500MHz P3 machine with 6x9GB Harddrives (the board won’t support another SCSI Card without an expansion card or it would have had 12) machine with 3.23GB RAM (12x256MB sticks and 4x64MB sticks). Needless to say my sharepoint server is MUCH more responsive (still with it would have picked up the 3rd processor i had in there, but it probably needed the 4th slot filled before it would recognize them). Tomorrow i get to see if i can make a quad processor (i think one is already dual) machine with a bunch of RAM to be my image deployment server. But again, like i said, kid in candy store syndrome, I’m super fucking excited. Then after work, Jess and I went to go see Iron Man (for those of you just tuning in, Jess = The Girl). ****SPOILER ALERT BELOW*** Ever wonder why life likes to throw you fancy curveballs? I do. I think it’s to keep the wit sharp. With consistency comes sloth like mental capabilities. People don’t like change in general. I personally like to see change happen. It is good to see things in a new light and to see how that [...] Just touching and some great life lessons. His name is Randy Pausch. He has Pancreatic cancer and will be dead in a few months. This man is a professor at Carnegie Mellon University. Just hearing him speak is a breath of fresh air. More people need to be like him, and [...] Welcome to The Basement.
